    September 25, 2024
    Dear Pālamanui Culinary Enthusiast,

Thank you all for the continued support of our culinary program!

Below are a few quick updates regarding the culinary program this semester.

Our outdoor dining facility is nearing completion, and we are hoping to open this January 2025.Upon completion we will be offering sit down pre-fixed menus featuring classical cuisine. Please stay tuned.

We are in the process of creating a Thanksgiving to go dessert menu, and will be sending that to you all by the end of October.  Thank you for purchasing in the past, as this practice will help the students transition to the culinary industry.

We have partnered with Konawaena High School and started the Early College Konawaena Culinary Academy. The first graduates of this program are slated for 2026!

The Early College High School (ECHS) program in Hawaii allows high school students to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. This dual-credit program is designed to give students a head start on higher education by allowing them to take college courses while still in high school, typically at no cost. These courses are offered in partnership with the University of Hawaii system, including community colleges and universities.

The goal of the program is to increase college readiness and reduce the time and cost of obtaining a degree. It’s particularly beneficial for students from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education, providing them with the opportunity to explore college-level work and adjust to the demands of post-secondary education while still in a supportive high school environment.

We are participating in many culinary events this semester such as the Mauna Lani Culinary classics. https://aubergeresorts.com/maunalani/culinary-classic

On Thursday October 17th and Friday October 18th, we will be assisting some of the best chefs in North America and Hawaii at the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival. This year the event is at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Please come and join us! https://hawaiifoodandwinefestival.com/

On Saturday October 19th, we will be demonstrating a few dishes at the 50th anniversary of NELHA. We will be located at the upper campus. Please stop by if you are in the area.

On Sunday November 3, our students will be presenting their Kona Coffee recipes at the Outrigger Keauhou resort. https://www.outrigger.com/hawaii/hawaii-big-island/outrigger-kona-resort-and-spa

We're thrilled to have had you with us and hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed having you. Your enthusiasm and participation made the program a success, and we look forward to cooking up more great memories with you in the future!
