• Mauna Kea Beach Hotel to Start Second Phase of Renovation

    January 31, 2025

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection on Hawaii Island will close its Beach Wing in February as part of the last phase of a $200 million renovation at the hotel that started last year.
The hotel announced that overall renovations, which began on April 15, will be completed in the third quarter of this year. The 96-room Beach Wing will be closed for about six to seven months, as well as the hotel's pool, which will undergo improvements.

The overall two-phased renovation includes a redesign of the resort's 252 guest rooms and suites and its four dining venues. It will also debut a new destination spa and wellness center complete with an oceanfront adults-only infinity pool experience, 11 indoor and al fresco treatment rooms, an enlarged state-of-the-art fitness center and full-service salon.

During phase one, the Main Tower and 18-hole Mauna Kea Golf Course were closed for renovations and have recently reopened.

"The Mauna Kea Golf Course has long been hailed as one of Hawaii’s top courses, with a deep history and cultural connection to the island," Kansas Henderson, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel's hotel manager said in a statement in December. "By working alongside its original designer's son, Robert Trent Jones Jr., we’ve ensured the updated course remains true to his father’s original vision and continues to be one of the most celebrated in the world."

The resort will have one or more restaurants open for meal service, however, its restaurant Number 3 will remain closed throughout the entire hotel renovation time span.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, located on the Kohala Coast, is owned and operated by Prince Resorts Hawaii Inc.
