and Manta Pacific Research Foundation
Join us at the Outrigger Kona Resort And Spa for Free and Fun Informative talks about manta rays and the marine environment given by local and international experts. Crafts and activities for keikis, kids and adults. Noon kick off meet and greet with refreshments at Keauhou Rooms. Talks 1pm to 6pm Mahalo reception 6 to 7pm at Rays On The Bay
- 1pm – The World Famous Kona Manta Rays by Keller Laros of the Manta Pacific Research Foundation
- 1:30 – Taxonomy, Anatomy & Life Cycle by Corey Nevels of the University of the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology
- 2pm - Manta Rays: Globally Iconic and Endangered by Mark Hackney of the Marine Megafauna Foundation
- 2:30 – A Little Plankton Talk by Jenna Hancock, Naturalist at Fair Wind Cruises
- 3pm – Manta Ray Identification - Each is Unique & Special by Keller Laros of Manta Pacific Research Foundation
- 3:30 – Manta Ray Cognition by Csilla Ari-D’Agostino PhD of the University of South Florida
- 4pm - Coloration Changes of Manta Rays by Csilla Ari-D’Agostino PhD of the University of South Florida
- 4:30 - Manta Rays in Hawaiian Culture by Rozanne Keli’ikipikaneokolohaka of Kia’i Kanaloa
- 5:pm - Day Use Moorings at Manta Dive Sites by Jeff & Teri Leicher of the Malama Kai Foundation
- 5:30 - Manta Ray Genetics by Mark Deakos of the Hawaii Association for Marine Education
- 6 – 7pm Mahalo Reception at Rays On The Bay. Pupus and Cash Bar.
- 7pm Screening of short film, “Mission Manta” Produced by Nikki Brito & Morgan Eason of the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine Science
