Hawaiian Airlines has been dubbed the "best employer in the state," for 2022 according to a newly released report from Forbes.
The "America's Best Employers By State" list, which ranks employers in 50 states and the District of Columbia, was gathered by market research company Statista, who surveyed 70,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. The anonymous ratings were then compiled to rank up to 101 employers in each state, depending on the size of its workforce, according to Forbes.
The list is different from Forbes' national ranking of best employers in that this list aims to highlight how companies act and are perceived throughout the country.
Hawaiian Airlines, which is No.1 on PBN's list of airlines serving Hawaii, ranked at the top for the Aloha State, followed by the city and County of Honolulu at No. 2, Hawaiian Telcom, Hilton, American Savings Bank, Servco, Hyatt Hotels, Kaiser Permanente, University of Hawaii System, and BAYADA Home Health Care rounding out the list at No. 10. "It is a tremendous honor to receive this prestigious ranking from Forbes, especially given the results were earned by the hard working men and women of the City and County of Honolulu,” said Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi in a statement. “Our employees are the heart and soul of the City, and their pride and passion in their work is truly humbling. I am inspired each day by their dedication and service to our community.”
The survey included questions about pay and safe working conditions, as well as remote work benefits, the gender wage gap and the existence of DEI initiatives within the workplace.
Of the 1,382 employers named to this year’s list, 246 were ranked in more than one state, and the U.S. Department of State had the most mentions, ranking among the best in 31 states, according to Forbes. Home Depot and Target were a close second, with both retailers making the list in 29 states.
