The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce is a vibrant, member-focused organization that provides leadership, advocacy, and networking opportunities to support the business community on the west side of Hawaii Island. We seek a dynamic, pleasant, customer-oriented person with excellent communication and organizational skills for the position of Event Coordinator.
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of Chamber events. This includes annual signature events such as the Governor’s Luncheon, Mayor’s Luncheon, Living & Design Home Expo, Employment Law Seminar, and Golf Tournament. Monthly AfterHours Networking Events and various business expos are also included.
The successful candidate will be able to deliver top-notch customer service, handle multiple administrative tasks, and work well with management, staff, and volunteers. The position requires professionalism, reliability, and tact. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for performing some duties of other team members when necessary or assigned and contributing to the organization's overall success. Training will be provided
Responsibilities
General Tasks:

Monitor daily emails, respond professionally, and forward as necessary.

Provide high-quality customer service by phone and manage messages.

Greet guests at the office and refer member services.

Operate office equipment - computer, phone, copier/scanner, and postage machine.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator or InDesign.

Maintain organized filing systems and document management.

Perform other duties as may be assigned or deemed necessary.
Events:

Work with management on event planning, including banquet and event orders (BEO).

Set up events and register attendees in ChamberMaster.

Coordinate all marketing and promotions for events, including advertisements, promotional flyers, press releases, social media posts, and website updates.

Secure sponsors and implement the promotional services listed for the sponsorship.

Attend and work at events, coordinating with Ambassadors and other volunteers.

Assist with capturing images and managing the Chamber’s image library.

Update and promote the annual events calendar regularly.
Position: Event Coordinator for the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce.
Location: Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce Center, 75-5737 Kuakini Highway, Suite 208, Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi Island.
Employment Type: Full-time hourly, 40 hours per week, on-site, and in-person.
Compensation: Starting at $23 per hour.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Professional business office environment with prolonged periods working on a computer. Ability to report to work at off-site locations for events. Some evening shifts are required for events, and a weekend shift is necessary for the annual home expo. Some events may require the set-up of tables and chairs, lifting boxes, and other physical activities. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for work purposes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with graphic design software.
Preferred Qualifications

3 years of work experience in a related field.

Some college or a four-year degree.
