Executive Director Message: Welcoming the New Year – What’s Ahead for 2018 and our 50th Anniversary

The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce (KKCC) welcomes 2018 as we celebrate a significant milestone in our organization’s history – our 50th Anniversary!

Special Chamber Publication: We begin our celebrations with the 50th Anniversary commemorative issue of The Source – KKCC’s annual business magazine and member directory that will be distributed island wide and sent in relocation packets. Members, be on the lookout for your copy of this special publication sent to you in January. We will also include a new 2018 Member Certificate with the 50th Anniversary logo.

New Leadership: We ring in the New Year with new board leadership as we welcome J. Porter DeVries as the new Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce Board Chair! Porter has served as the Economic Development Committee Chair, a board member and more recently Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors. Porter’s qualifications and experience make him well-suited to lead our organization and we look ahead to an exciting 2018! Learn more about Porter in the New KKCC Board Chair article.

We thank former Board Chair Matthew Grauso for his service as he applied his energy and talents in guiding the organization, especially in our most recent strategic planning session. We wish him all the best with the move to Honolulu.

2018 Legislative Priorities: Hawaiʻi’s legislative session opens January 18th and KKCC is ready with our list of legislative priorities thanks to the efforts of our Economic Development Committee and Board of Directors. We are sharing these priorities with our elected officials and will monitor progress throughout the session. View the complete list here.

Health and Wellness for 2018: KKCC invites members to join the new Health and Wellness Working Group – a forum for members to share, discuss and collaborate on issues, concerns and solutions about health and wellness for businesses and our community. The first meeting will be Tuesday, February 13th from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Chamber office. If you’re interested in attending, please email info (@) kona-kohala.com.

50th Anniversary Celebrations throughout the Year: We will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary for all of 2018. Please join us at our Focus Luncheon with Mayor Kim and his Cabinet in March, Kuleana Green Business Fair in April, 23rd Annual Golf Tournament in May, Annual Membership and Installation Luncheon with keynote speaker Governor Ige in June and a special 50th Anniversary Gala Event in October!

As we launch into 2018 and the 50th Anniversary of our organization, we are very thankful to all of our members, past and present, for their dedication and commitment to the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce. Our economy continues to improve, our organization is solid and we have the foundation we need to achieve our goals as we head into the next 50 years.

Looking forward to 2018!

Sincerely,
