Rapid Ohia Death Symposium in Kona

Corie Yanger, Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death Educational/Outreach Specialist, advises us that there will be Rapid ‘Ōhi‘a Death Symposiums as follows:

  • March 18, 2017 at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo from 9 am to 12 pm.
  • April 1, 2017 at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center from 9 am to 12 pm.

Rapid Ohia

Discussed will be the Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death discovery timeline, its origin, how the fungus spreads, wood treatment research, effects on the forest, management actions, and community outreach and engagement.  Mayor Harry Kim will provide an introduction, and snacks and refreshments will be provided through donations from local businesses.
