Ke Ola Premieres as Color Kona-Kohala Lifestyle Magazine
 
Launching its first issue at Thanksgiving, Ke Ola Magazine will provide residents of West Hawai‘I “with a publication that positively reflects the beauty and rich heritage of the Kona-Kohala Coast.” It is available by subscription, where magazines are sold and from local advertisers. Advertising professional Barbara Garcia Bowman and veteran publisher Karen Valentine formed Hawaii Island Publishing, Inc. to present Ke Ola, which means “The Life.” “Content will enrich appreciation of the area and reaffirm our reason for living here,” explains Garcia Bowman, co-publisher. “Ke Ola offers a showcase of island leaders, artists, culture, books, food, music and events.” Circulation of the bimonthly, fourcolor, glossy publication is 20,000. Keiki Talk is the Big Isle’s Only Publication Dedicated to Parenting

Busy Big Island parents have a new resource for raising healthy, happy and self-confident children. OFFICEMAX PLANS OCTOBER OPENING IN KONA COMMONS

Featuring traditional office supplies, furniture, a technology hub and a complete print-solution production center, OfficeMax plans to open an Advantage store the first week in October at the Kona Commons Shopping Center. An initial job fair recruits employees 9 a.m.-5 p.m. August 18 at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel. James Araujo will serve as the store’s manager with Michael Mochizuki on board as the district manager.
